Born on the 1st day of March, 1964. Obtained LLB in the year 1988 from the North Eastern Hill University. Enrolled in the Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura in the year 1989. Appointed as Additional Senior Government Advocate, Nagaland in the month of November, 2000. Appointed as Additional Advocate General, Nagaland in the month of March 2009 and continued as such till elevation as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 22nd May, 2013. Took oath as Additional Judge, Manipur High Court on 9th October, 2018, on transfer and became permanent on 12th November, 2018. Took oath as Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 10th June, 2022.

Born on 28th August, 1965 at Guwahati. Completed primary education from Haripriya Vidyapeeth, Kumarpara, Guwahati; middle schooling from M.C.M.E., Uzanbazar, Guwahati, secondary education from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ambari, Guwahati, passed Higher Secondary from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara, Guwahati; Graduation in Arts from St. Josephs’ College, Bangalore under Bangalore University and obtained LL.B. Degree from the then Government Law College, Panbazar, Guwahati under Gauhati University.

Enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh on 12.09.1990. Had been practicing mainly on Civil, Constitutional, Land Acquisition and Service matters. Was Standing Counsel of Gauhati High Court and Education Department, Government of Assam till appointment as Additional Judge of Gauhati High Court. Was also Standing Counsel of State of Tripura since 2004 till bifurcation; Member of the Law Commission, Assam and Member of the Indian Law Institute.

Elevated as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 22nd May 2013. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 12.11.2018.

Born on 23.10.1965. Did schooling from St. Edmund's School, Shillong. Obtained B.A. (Hons.) in English from Hindu College under Delhi University. Completed LL.B from Campus Law Centre under Delhi University. Designated as Senior Advocate on 06.09.2010. Elevated as Additional Judge, Gauhati High Court on 07.01.2015. Appointed as Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 3rd January, 2017.

After completing B.Sc (Major) under the Gauhati University obtained LL.B Degree from the J.B. Law College, Guwahati. Enrolled as an Advocate under the Bar Council of Assam etc. w.e.f. 03.09.1996. Practiced mainly on the civil side dealing with civil matters, constitutional matters, arbitration cases and service matters. Occasionally handled election trial as well as criminal matters before the High Court. Appeared before the Gauhati High Court at Principal Seat as well as at the Outlying Benches and Civil Courts on the original side. Functioned as the Secretary of the Indian Law Institute, Assam Chapter, w.e.f. 29.09.2010 till elevation. Appointed as Standing Counsel of the Gauhati High Court at the Principal Seat and also various public enterprises. Elevated as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court with effect from 07.01.2015.

Born on 15th December, 1961 and having obtained the qualification of Post Graduation in Economics and LL.B, joined the Bar in Guwahati on 06.09.1988, designated as Senior Advocate on 04.08.2014 and appointed as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 15.11.2016. Educated in St. Mary's School, Guwahati in Lower Primary, Don Bosco School, Guwahati in Upper Primary, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Guwahati in Secondary and Senior Secondary, Utkal University for Graduation, Gauhati University for Post Graduation and Government Law College, Guwahati under Gauhati University for LL.B. Practiced mainly in the writ side, also attended to Civil Appeals and Revisions, Criminal Appeals and Revisions, Arbitration Petitions and Company Petitions etc. Attended Civil Courts, Central Administrative Tribunal, Armed Forces Tribunal. Attended different Judicial Enquiry Commissions on behalf of prejudicially affected persons, State Government and also on behalf of the Commission respectively. Appeared in arbitration proceedings and also conducted arbitration proceedings as an Arbitrator. Appointed as Panel Advocate of Government of Assam and also of Oil India Limited. Appointed as Junior Government Advocate of the Government of Assam on 27.06.2001 and Senior Government Advocate of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh on 04.08.2014. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 12.11.2018.

Born on December 13, 1965. Graduated in Commerce (Major in Management Accountancy & Taxation) in 1988. Obtained LL.B degree in 1991. Enrolled as an Advocate on August 14, 1992. Practiced in various fields of law in the Gauhati High Court and subordinate Courts and also appeared before various Courts and Tribunals in Kolkata and New Delhi. Appointed as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on November 15, 2016. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 12.11.2018.

Born on 9th October, 1968, he did his schooling in almost all the states in the north-east. He passed his matriculation from St. Paul’s High School, Aizawl (now St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School) under the Mizoram Board of School Education. Graduated in Arts from St. Anthony’s College, Shillong under the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and obtained law degree from Shillong Law College, NEHU in the year 1995.

He enrolled himself as an Advocate in the Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh in the year 1996 and started his practice in the Principle Seat of the Gauhati High Court from the same year under an able and competent senior. He also appeared in the Subordinate Courts, both in the original and appellate side (both civil and criminal), including Boards, District Consumer Forum, State Consumer Commission and Tribunals (CAT, MACT) etc.

On April, 1998, he took charge of the Office of the Assistant Advocate General, Mizoram at Aizawl and after a month, he was appointed as the Government Advocate for the Gauhati High Court, Aizawl Bench. On 04.09.2003, he was appointed as the Public Prosecutor for the Aizawl Bench of the Gauhati High Court. Thereafter, on 02.02.2007 he was appointed as the Additional Advocate General, Mizoram in which post he continued till 31.9.2011.

He was also appointed as Legal Adviser of the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for the State of Manipur and Mizoram. He was designated as a Senior Advocate by the Gauhati High Court on 2010. On 01.12.2010, he was nominated by the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court as Member of the North-Eastern Judicial Officers Training Institute (NEJOTI) for a period of three years. He was elected as the Vice-President of the Mizoram Bar Association for three terms viz; 2008-2010, 2011-2012 and 2014-2016 and on 26.08.2016 he was elected as the President of the Bar Association for the year 2016-2018. He is a Life Member of the Bar Association of India. On 25.07.2012, he was appointed as the Legal Adviser of the Mizoram University and on 25.07.2012 he was appointed as the Standing Counsel for the Aizawl Bench of the Gauhati High Court. He was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 15.11.2016. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 12.11.2018.

Born on 01-12-1961, he did his M.A, LL.B from Gauhati University. He joined in Grade-III of Assam Judicial Service and initially appointed as Munshiff-cum-Judicial Magistrate at Silchar on 03-12-1988. He was promoted to Grade-II of Assam Judicial Service and worked as Deputy Registrar, Gauhati High Court, from 25-05-2001 to 14-11-2005. He was promoted to adhoc Grade-I of Assam Judicial Service and joined as Additional District & Sessions Judge (F.T.C.) at Nagaon on 01-11-2006 and then regularized in the same grade of the service from 04-02-2008. He worked as District & Sessions Judge, Sivasagar from 30-06-2008 to 02-02-2011, Registrar (vigilance), Gauhati High Court from 03-02-2011 to 02-03-2012, District & Sessions Judge Sonitpur, Tezpur from 07-03-2012 to 28-01-2015 and District & Sessions Judge, Kamrup (M), Guwahati from 02-02-2015. He was promoted to the Selection Grade of Grade-I of Assam Judicial Service from 04-02-2013 and as the super time scale District & Sessions Judge from 05-02-2016. Elevated as Additional Judge of Gauhati High Court on 15-11-2016. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 12.11.2018.

Justice Sanjay Kumar Medhi was born to Late Surendra Nath Medhi and Smt. Parul Medhi at Guwahati on 07.03.1971. He completed his schooling from the Don Bosco School, Guwahati and thereafter the Higher Secondary (Science) from Cotton College, Guwahati in flying colours. In the year 1988, he took admission in the prestigious Ramjas College, Delhi University where he pursued and obtained the B.A. degree with Honours in Economics in 1991. Thereafter from 1991 to 1994 he was enrolled as a LLB student in Campus Law Centre in the University of Delhi. On obtaining the LLB Degree, in 1994 he enrolled himself as an Advocate for the North East Bar Council on 30.11.1994. In the meantime he had started his practice with Jain Hansaria & Company, a law firm of national repute. In July 1995, he came back to Guwahati and started his practice mainly at the Gauhati High Court under the guidance of his illustrious father Late Surendra Nath Medhi who was a Senior Advocate at that time. Justice Sanjay Kumar Medhi was appointed as the Standing Counsel of the Gauhati High Court in the year 2012, which he continued till his elevation. On 06.04.2017 he was designated as a Senior Advocate and in November, 2017 he was appointed as the Additional Advocate General, Assam. Sri Medhi has been elevated as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 19.11.2018. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 10.11.2020.

Born on 16.05.1969. Did schooling from Govt. Higher Secondary School, Ziro, Lower Subansiri District, Arunachal Pradesh. B.A. from Govt. College, Itanagar (Arunachal University). LL.B. from Campus Law Centre (Delhi University). Designated as Senior Advocate by the Gauhati High Court on 04.08.2014. Elevated as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 19.11.2018. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 10.11.2020.

Born on 01.03.1972 to Late Kshitish Chandra Choudhury and Smt. Mira Choudhury, Justice Manish Choudhury passed the High School Leaving Certificate Examination, 1987 as a rank holder from Cotton Collegiate School, Guwahati. After passing the Higher Secondary (Science) Examination, 1989 from Cotton College, Guwahati with distinction, he joined Ramjas College, University of Delhi to pursue B.A. (Honours) in Economics. After completing graduation in the year 1992, he completed Masters in Economics in 1994 in 1st Class and obtained LL.B. Degree from J.B. Law College under the Gauhati University. He served as a Lecturer in Economics at Damdama College and North Gauhati College from October, 1995 to November, 1997. In November, 1997, he joined Unit Trust of India ISL at Kolkata where he served till August, 1999. After tendering resignation therefrom, he enrolled himself in the Bar Council of Assam, etc. on 27.08.1999. Practiced mainly in the Principal Seat as well as in the Aizawl Bench, Itanagar Bench and Kohima Bench of the Gauhati High Court. Also attended the Central Administrative Tribunal, the Courts of the District & Sessions Judge in the districts of Assam, the Court of Special Judge, Assam, the Court of Special Judge, CBI, Assam, the Assam Administrative Tribunal, the Assam Board of Revenue, etc. Was Standing Counsel of the Directorate of Land Records, Assam from 2009 to 2016 and Senior Standing Counsel, Higher Education Department, Assam during 2014 to 2016. Was retainer counsel of a number of organizations, companies and PSUs. Appointed Member, State Law Commission, Assam on 24.06.2015. As a Resource Person, he attended Training Programmes organized by Assam State Legal Services Authority all over Assam. On 06.04.2017, he was designated as Senior Advocate by the Gauhati High Court. Elevated as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 18.01.2019. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 10.11.2020.

Justice Soumitra Saikia obtained his LLB degree from J.B. Law College under the Gauhati University in the year 1995. He started his practice after being admitted to be an Advocate of the Bar Council of the Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh & Sikkim on 20th September 1995. He practiced in revenue & taxation matters, labour and service matters, corporate matters, arbitration and contract matters. He also appeared in a few civil and criminal appeals before the High Court. He appeared in several important matters and represented various Public Sector Enterprises in several matters. He also represented various departments under the Government of Assam like PWD, Secondary Education, Finance & Taxation, Agriculture Marketing Board to name a few, as well as the AICTE as its standing counsel for a few years. He was the Senior Standing Counsel for the Income Tax Department for several years for the Gauhati High Court. He was appointed as an Additional Advocate General for the State of Arunachal Pradesh in August 2016 and which he continued to be till his elevation. He was also appointed as Secretary of the Indian Law Institute (ILI) Assam Chapter. He was elevated to the Bench as an Additional Judge on 26.11.2019. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 13.10.2021.

Son of Sri Purna Chandra Saikia, retired District and Sessions Judge. He was born on 18.04.1965. He had completed his school at Guwahati and thereafter completed his education at Nagaon. He has joined Assam Judicial Service in the year 1992. Worked as District and Sessions Judge since September, 2011, in between, he had also held the position of Member Secretary, Assam State Legal Service Authority. Elevated as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 26.11.2019. At the time of elevation, he was working as District and Sessions Judge, Tinsukia. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 13.10.2021.

Born in Shillong in the year 1966. Did early schooling in Shillong and, thereafter, at Sivasagar, Assam. Obtained B.Sc. degree from Sivasagar College, Joysagar in the year 1986. Pursued LL.B. from Govt. Law College (erstwhile Earl Law College), Guwahati and LL.M. from Gauhati University.

Joined Assam Judicial Service in the year 1993 and served at different places in Assam in different capacities till elevation to Gauhati High Court on 21.06.2021, as Additional Judge.

Also served in Gauhati High Court as Registrar (Administration), Registrar (Vigilance) and Registrar General. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 18.05.2023.

Justice Kakheto Sema was born on 06-07-1963 in Mokokchung, Nagaland. He did his schooling from Christ King School, Kohima, and T.M. High School Kohima, and obtained his B.A. degree from Synod College, Shillong, under North Eastern Hill University (NEHU). After completing his LL.B. degree from New Law College, Bombay, under the University of Bombay (now Mumbai), he enrolled as an Advocate under the Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, etc. on 20.09.1989. Practiced in the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, and the Subordinate Courts of Nagaland in constitutional, service, criminal and civil cases. He was appointed as the Additional Advocate General of Nagaland on 12-06-2012 and designated as a Senior Advocate by the Gauhati High Court on 04-08-2014. Thereafter, he was appointed as the Sr. Additional Advocate General, Nagaland, on 18-07-2016 and continued in that capacity till his elevation as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 13-10-2021. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 01.08.2023.

Born in a family, where his grandfather Late B.D.S. Barooah, retired as a District Judge and his father Late Justice D.N. Baruah, retired as Judge of the Gauhati High Court; Justice Devashis Baruah completed his schooling from Don Bosco School, Guwahati in the year 1989, his graduation in B.A. (History) from the Cotton College, Guwahati in the year 1994 and obtained his LL.B from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University in the year, 1997.

After obtaining his Law degree, he started practicing before the Gauhati High Court at its Principal Seat as well as before its outlying benches. He also appeared regularly before the Civil Courts and Tribunals. He practiced in diverse fields such as civil, constitutional, taxation, arbitration and company matters.

He was the Standing Counsel of the Election Commission of India since 2009 till his elevation. He was also the Additional Advocate General of Assam at the time of his elevation.

He was elevated as an Additional Judge, Gauhati High Court on 13.10.2021. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 01.08.2023.

Early schooling from Visva Bharati University, Shantiniketan, graduation from Lady Brabourne College, Kolkata with political science (Hons.), obtained  LL.B. Degree from Nagaon Law College. Joined as Judicial Officer in the year 1994 holding different posts across Assam. Worked as District & Sessions Judge, Bongaigaon and Tinsukia. Also holds the post of Member, MACT, Tezpur.  Was holding the post of District & Sessions Judge, Silchar before elevation as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 13^th October, 2021. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 01.08.2023.

Justice Marli Vankung was born on 04-03-1964 at Aizawl to Brig. (late) C. Vankunga. She joined NEHU to pursue B.A. (English Hons.) and after having obtained LL.B. and M. Phil (International Legal Studies) degrees from the University of Delhi and Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, joined the Mizoram Judicial Service on 10-09-1989. After separation of the judiciary from the executive in the State of Mizoram, she held various posts such as Member Secretary, Mizoram State Legal Services Authority; Addl. District & Sessions Judge, Aizawl; District and Sessions Judge, Lunglei Judicial District; Presiding Officer, MACT, Aizawl; and Secretary, Law and Judicial Department, Govt. of Mizoram.

Justice Vankung attended various seminars/ programmes including the International Visitor’s Program on ‘Administration of Justice in the U.S’ in Washington D.C from 9^th August to 30^th August 2001, and the Advocates International Meet at Seoul, South Korea from 20^th – 23^rd October 2001. She also assisted an  NGO called ‘International Justice Mission’ whose mission was to rescue minor girls forced into prostitution from the red light areas of Mumbai and took steps towards the prosecution of the brothel keepers and pimps involved.

Elevated as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 13-10-2021. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 01.08.2023.

Having completed B.A. from Cotton College, Guwahati in the year 1992, he completed his Master Degree in Economics from Gauhati University in the year 1995. Thereafter, he obtained LL.B. degree from Government Law College, Guwahati in the year 2000 and enrolled as an Advocate in the Bar Council of Assam etc. on 22.11.2000.

He practiced before the Gauhati High Court at the Principal Seat as well as before the outlying Benches, mainly  dealing with constitutional matters, civil matters, arbitration matters, service matters etc. He also practiced before various Civil Courts and Tribunals within the jurisdiction of Gauhati High Court.

He was the Standing Counsels for different authorities/ institutions like Education Department, Government of Assam,  Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University, the Assam Co-Operative Apex Bank etc. He was appointed as Additional Advocate General, State of Mizoram for the Principal Seat of the Gauhati High Court on 03.04.2019 and he continued in that capacity till his elevation.

He has been elevated as Additional Judge of the Guahati High Court on 05.11.2021. Became permanent Judge w.e.f. 01.08.2023.

Born and brought up in Namrup, she did her schooling from H.F.C. Model School, Namrup. Passed B.A. (Honours) in Economics from Handique Girls College, Guwahati. Completed Masters in Economics from Gauhati University in the year 1989. Obtained LL.B degree from Gauhati University (Government Law College) in the year 1989. Enrolled as an Advocate on 12.03.1991. Joined as a Judicial Officer, Grade-III of Assam Judicial Service on 27.07.1995. Appointed to Grade-II of Assam Judicial Service on 29.11.2006 and Grade-I on 29.08.2012. Elevated as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 16^th of August, 2022.

Born in Guwahati and passed HSLC examination in the year 1982 from T.C. Girls School, Guwahati.  Completed graduation in 1987 in Science Stream from Handique Girls College, Guwahati.  Completed Masters in Zoology and LLB in the same year i.e., 1992.

After enrolment in the Bar, started practicing mainly in Civil Court in District Judges Court campus.  Joined in the Judicial Service in March 1998.

Promoted to Grade I in December 2012. 

Serving as District & Sessions Judge, Kamrup (M) till elevation.  Elevated to Additional Judge, Gauhati High Court on 16.08.2022.

Born on 09.04.1975 at Paya Village, West Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh. Did schooling from Government Higher Secondary School, Aalo, Arunachal Pradesh. Graduated in 1995 from Zakir Husain College, Delhi University. LLB from Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, Delhi University. Enrolled as an Advocate in the Bar council of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh & Sikkim in 1999. Designated as Senior Advocate in 2014. Appointed as Additional Advocate General for the State of Arunachal Pradesh in 2011. Appointed as Senior Additional Advocate General in 2016 and as Acting Advocate General in 2021. Served as President of Gauhati High Court Itanagar Permanent Bench Bar Association from 2010-2011. Elevated as Additional Judge of Gauhati High Court on 13.03.2023.

He was born, on 2^nd July 1968, in Guwahati, to late Mukunda Chandra Kalita and Smt. Satyabati Kalita of village- Dharapur in Kamrup (Metro) district of Assam. He had his schooling in Kendriya Vidyalaya at three different places namely Delhi Cantt., Bengdubi and Borjhar (Guwahati). He obtained B.Sc. degree from the Arya Vidyapeeth College, Guwahati, and thereafter LL.B degree from the University Law College, Gauhati University in the year 1994. Thereafter, he obtained LL.M degree, from Gauhati University, in the year 1997.

After obtaining law degree, he enrolled as an Advocate under the Bar council of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh & Sikkim on 23/09/1994, and practiced, mainly in district courts, for a period of about four years. He also served as a lecturer in the J.B. Law College at Guwahati from 1998 for about two years. In the year 2000, he topped the list of selected candidates and joined the Assam Judicial Service on 10/05/2000.

He served in various capacities in the Assam Judicial Service at different places of Assam. He also worked in various capacities, in the Registry of the Gauhati High Court, including Registrar-cum-Principal Secretary to Hon’ble the Chief Justice, Registrar (Administration) and Registrar (Vigilance). He also served as Legal Remembrance-cum-Secretary to the Government of Assam, Judicial Department. He also served as District & Sessions Judge at Sonitpur, Nagaon and Jorhat districts.

At the time of his elevation, as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court, he was a Super Time Scale District & Sessions Judge and was posted as District & Sessions Judge, Jorhat.

Born on 6th April, 1969 at Hong village of Lower Subansiri District, Arunachal Pradesh. He studied at Government Higher Secondary School, Ziro (Now DKGHSS). Completed BA (Hons) and MA at Arunachal University (Now RGU), and LL.B degree from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong. 

He enrolled as an Advocate on 23rd May 2000 and practiced in Trial Courts in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and in the Gauhati High Court. He served as General Secretary of Gauhati High Court Itanagar Permanent Bench Bar Association during 2008-2010. The first recruitment of Judicial Officers for the State of Arunachal Pradesh was held in 2009 and he topped the Arunachal Pradesh Judicial Service Examination becoming the first Judicial Officer to be appointed as the District and Sessions Judge on 31st March 2010. He served in Tezu, Yupia and Pasighat districts of Arunachal Pradesh. He also served as Member Secretary, Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) and Registrar at the Gauhati High Court, Itanagar Permanent Bench, Naharlagun/Yupia before being appointed as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 12th September 2023.
